Principal Associate - Risk Manager (Work From Home)

As a Principal Associate, Risk Manager supporting Capital One US Card Channels Access Management, you will drive risk oversight activities that support a healthy control environment and well managed practices. Responsibilities will include evaluating and documenting various risks, monitoring, reporting and controlling critical process points as defined by enterprise policies and standards. You will educate and gain buy-in from key stakeholders concerning impact from risk exposure as well as proposed remediation. You may also lead or engage in critical departmental or cross-functional organizational initiatives and projects as needed.

This individual must be able to effectively communicate and influence partners across multiple functional areas including multiple levels of the organization. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic agile environment are essential to succeeding in this role. This individual must display strong leadership skills and be able to drive and motivate others in delivering flawless execution of process improvement projects. Knowledge of how to navigate reporting and project management systems/tools, as well as the development and management of process controls, will be critical to maintaining a well-managed process. In this role you will:

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to influence partners across the company at multiple levels. Must be comfortable engaging Audit, Risk, Technology, and Operations leadership teams

  • Build successful relationships with key partners and team members to understand impact of technology and information security risk on critical business processes; Engages with audit, Risk, Technology and Operations teams.

  • Display strong analytical and technical skills, including some experience working with data tables, data maps, business rules, case development and automation/reporting tools  

  • Develop a deep understanding of business access needs, applications, and their risk profiles

  • Apply understanding of Identity Access Management and Cybersecurity terminology and controls

  • Drive identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting on cyber risks inherent to business and technology concepts

  • Create and maintain adequate assessment and support documentation  including executive summaries and work papers detailing the assessment. work completed, evidence reviewed, and identified gaps.

  • Day to day oversight of multiple processes: monitor, report, and plan system improvements or redesign initiatives; define, establish, and manage process controls; identify process improvement opportunities and implement them through collaboration with other groups such as the Risk office, Product/Tech, and Operations management; make final recommendations for approval on changes. 

  • Resolve complex problems or transactions, where expertise is required to interpret against policies, guidelines or processes; escalate breakdowns in the process by asking the right questions and identify/involve the right stakeholders to correct breakdowns.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent Certification

  • At least 2 years of experience in process management or project management

  • At least 2 years of experience in risk management

  • At least 2 years of experience with Google Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 

  • 3+ years of experience in process management or project management

  • 3+ years of experience in risk management 

  • 2+ years experience with data storage, data modeling and data access patterns

  • BPM, Lean, Agile, Six Sigma or Project Management certification

Work from Home Technology Requirements

  • Secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions

  • Reliable private internet connection that is not supplied via cellular data or hotspot is required

    • A private network that is password protected where you have ownership or line of site sight to every device on the network

    • Internet service must be provided by Cable or Fiber Internet Service Providers (ISP)

    • Hotspots and satellite services are prohibited and do not meet performance criteria required for optimal agent/customer interactions

    • ISP download speeds on VPN must be at least 5Mbps, with 10+ Mbps preferred 

    • To validate ISP speeds from a Chrome browser, go to www.google.com, type Speed Test and run from the Google landing page 

  • Both Hardwire and WiFi internet connections are acceptable as long as speed and security requirements are met

Capital One reserves the right to request proof of internet provider, speed and service package from the associate. Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology is delivered. Capital One reserves the right to modify internet service requirements with sixty (60) days notice. Internet Service Provider specs can change by provider and location within the US. Work from Home Location Requirements

Candidates must live within 100 mile radius of 23060 (Richmond, VA), 23320 (Chesapeake, VA), 33634 (Tampa, FL), 89144 (Las Vegas, NV), 75024 (Plano, TX), 19801 (Wilmington, DE), 68521 (Lincoln, NE) or 56301 (St. Cloud, MN) and report in person, when required, with at least than 24 hours notice.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
