Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Global Payment Network Risk Manager

The Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Global Payment Network (GPN) Risk Manager performs a key risk management role (second line of defense) by ensuring that the line of business delivers AML strategies compliant with applicable anti-money laundering laws and regulations. The role will have a high level of exposure across Risk and the lines of business, as well as the opportunity to work with business partners and executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company. The AML GPN Risk Manager will implement initiatives that continuously improve AML soundness across the line of business. The role will help to establish an effective risk control environment and address regulatory/compliance requirements.  


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as an AML subject matter expert, providing actionable compliance advice to business partners and internal management on products, services, processes, and regulatory applicability.
  • Advise business lines on the implementation, operation, and enhancement of the global AML Risk Management Program and associated internal processes.
  • Direct the documentation, implementation, and dissemination of AML compliance policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Consult with cross-functional experts (legal counsel, accounting, and government relations) to address complex legal, technical, and regulatory issues.
  • Design and implement initiatives that continuously improve AML soundness, communication, and enforcement across business units and lines of defense.
  • Facilitate enterprise risk management processes, ensuring local risk management and data management activities comply with corporate control standards.
  • Identify compliance gaps, conduct follow-up reviews, and drive remediation plans for ineffective controls and data risk issues.
  • Support organizational Change Management by ensuring risk and data management impacts of new initiatives are accurately assessed, documented, and mitigated.
  • Serve as a key interdepartmental liaison across lines of business, compliance teams, and executive management to report on compliance operations, data risk initiatives, and emerging risks.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience.
  • At least 3 years of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance or Financial Services Risk Management experience.
  • At least 6 months of working experience with USA PATRIOT Act and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance or financial crimes investigations
  • Experience navigating international AML/CFT regulatory frameworks
  • Proven track record in designing, implementing, and scaling enterprise risk management frameworks
  • Relevant professional certifications, such as Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), or industry equivalent
  • Strong background in compliance advisory, risk governance, or internal/external audit within a regulated financial institution

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Chicago, IL: $138,100 - $157,700 for Risk Manager


 

McLean, VA: $151,900 - $173,400 for Risk Manager


 

Richmond, VA: $138,100 - $157,700 for Risk Manager


 

Riverwoods, IL: $138,100 - $157,700 for Risk Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
