Summary

The Business Underwriting & Loss Mitigation team in Business Card & Payments (BC&P) line of business is responsible for growing spending capacity for heavy spend small businesses. The growth & credit policy pillar is focused on growing spend on our high line, manually underwritten population and developing and managing our underwriting credit policy across SBC and CML Card underwriting.

This role in the growth & credit policy team involves developing our SBC & CML Card credit policy and underwriting intent, assessing and evaluating the impact of those policies to fine tune them, exploring new platforms and capabilities, and supporting our credit program analysis and monitoring. The associate will:

  • Generate credit decisions to enhance our underwriting credit policy

  • Develop monitoring strategies for our SBC & CML portfolio. This includes monitoring customer performance in the context of individual decisions and at the portfolio level.

  • Form actionable insights to manage our high line customers by developing frameworks to drive engagement to grow our best customers

  • Collaborate and communicate with partners across job families in order to improve experiences and outcomes for customers and other associates

  • Partner with product/tech to build out new capabilities and platforms to help us win in the market

The role requires:

  • Ability to think strategically and work on whitespace problems

  • Strong communication and ability to tell a story through deck

  • Ability to learn new technical skills and work across SQL, Python and coding languages necessary for the job

  • Ability to partner with other teams such as product, tech, finance, data science, credit risk management

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any quantitative field (Business, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Science, Engineering)  

  • At least 2 years of experience in analysis 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Master’s Degree in Business or quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, Engineering 

  • 5+ years of experience in analysis 

  • 2+ years of experience in financial services 

  • 1+ year of experience in consulting 

  • 2+ years of experience in people management

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Chicago, IL: $144,000 - $164,400 for Business Manager


 

McLean, VA: $158,400 - $180,800 for Business Manager


 

New York, NY: $172,800 - $197,200 for Business Manager


 

Richmond, VA: $144,000 - $164,400 for Business Manager


 


 


 


 


 


 


 

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
