Chief of Staff - Bank Tech

This Chief of Staff team member will report directly to the VP, Strategy & Operations and partner with the Strategy & Operations leadership team and Bank Tech CTO establishing an optimized approach to driving the bank tech leadership team operating agenda.   In this critical role, they will lead a team and provide thought leadership to influence the Bank Tech VP+ engagement agenda, partner with internal and external communications leaders in delivering robust stakeholder communications aligned with our strategy and imperatives, and drive strategic operating routines.  

Participating on the Strategy & Operations team provides the opportunity for:

  • Developing a deep understanding of the business and technology  strategy, as well as operational disciplines

  • Interaction with leadership across the business and with key stakeholders and partners across the Bank Tech organization

  • Collaboration and developing relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Leadership of key VP+ engagement programs and initiatives

  • Leadership of strategic initiatives

  • Ability to maintain strategic mindset, while providing excellent attention to detail to ensure seamless execution across multiple priorities, programs, and initiatives
     

Responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Leadership Events & Experiences:

    • Lead the design and execution of all Bank Tech leadership team operating routines, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.

    • Drive the CTO's VP+ engagement leadership agenda, designing high-impact interactions with VP+ and other key stakeholders.

    • Provide thought leadership to organize and optimize operating practices and align with adjacent operational routines across Bank Tech.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Develop compelling presentations that clearly communicate progress on our strategic imperatives to executive audiences.

    • Partner closely with communications leaders to deliver robust, meaningful content that aligns with progress against our strategic imperatives.

  • Special Projects & Initiatives:

    • Lead critical special projects on behalf of the CTO and bank tech leadership team from conception to successful execution.

  • Team work:

    • Collaborate with the matrixed Chief of Staff team to drive tight alignment of the bank tech leadership team operating and stakeholder management agendas.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience

  • At least 7 years of experience in Project Management, Operations, or Process Management in technology industry

  • At least 5 years of experience building and influencing technology strategy

  • At least 5 years of people management experience
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree

  • 3+ years of experience driving organizational change and operational excellence in technology

  • 3+ years of experience writing communications and presentations for leadership and non-leadership audiences

  • 8+ years of experience in Project Management, Operations, or Process Management

  • 7+ years of experience building and influencing strategy

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $226,000 - $257,900 for Director, Chief of Staff


 

New York, NY: $246,500 - $281,300 for Director, Chief of Staff


 

Richmond, VA: $205,400 - $234,400 for Director, Chief of Staff


 


 


 


 


 


 


 


 

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
