Cyber Risk & Analysis Program Manager

Do you have a passion for technology, influencing at all levels, and leading change for the better?  If so, we have an exciting opportunity as a Program Manager within the Cyber Strategic Business Enablement team in Cyber at Capital One. The Cyber Execution and Transformation (CET) team is fast paced and composed of motivated team members. We are seeking a Program Manager who is highly organized and process focused who will enable continued delivery on some of our technology organization’s top priorities. The ideal candidate will have experience with problem solving, critical thinking, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills. 

The CET team fosters change across the Cyber organization. As a Program Manager on this fast-paced and dynamic team, we’re looking for someone that can help us deliver cyber-specific capabilities that will help Capital One customers to have incredible, secure experiences. Examples of the cyber capabilities and services we support include Data Protection, Endpoint Security, Cyber Governance and Risk, and Security Testing, among others. 

Program Managers at Capital One are highly motivated project and program management professionals with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. These skills allow us to gain insights and act as a change agent to influence our business partners. They have a high level of exposure across various cyber services and functional areas, and have the opportunity to work with Executives to create and implement innovative solutions to appropriately manage risks within Cyber. 

As a Program Manager on Cyber’s CET team, you will apply your project and program management and analytical skills to support the delivery, oversight, and implementation of key cyber initiatives.

Your Key Roles and Responsibilities are:

  • Provide workstream level management of key cyber initiatives, which will include facilitating the development of new project and program requirements

  • Support communications needs of various cyber-specific functions, including the gathering of insights and data as well as the preparation of written reports and oral presentations

  • Drive the proper implementation of proper program management best practices, including the use of various governance mechanisms related to change management and other areas  

  • Develop and coordinate internal processes and program governance maturation

  • Manage and organize key deliverables across various initiatives 

  • Drive and coordinate work related to Capital One’s cybersecurity program enhancement efforts

  • Analyze information to proactively identify risks, trends, and process improvements

  • Continuously advise on the enhancement of risk and project and program management practices

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills

  • A quantitative approach to problem solving and a collaborative implementer to holistic solutions; a systems thinker 

  • Ability to simplify the technically complex and drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives

  • Background in Cyber or Cloud implementations

  • Deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results

  • Strong technical backgrounds (ideally building highly scalable platforms, products, or services) with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery life-cycle

  • Exceptional cross-team collaboration; able to work across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to get the job done

  • Highly tuned emotional intelligence, good listener, and deep seated empathy for teams and partners

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification

  • At least 4 years of experience in program management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 5+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing

  • 3+ years of experience delivering Cybersecurity solutions and capabilities

  • 3+ years of experience in building distributed systems and highly available services using cloud computing services and architecture using AWS

  • 3+ years of experience building highly scalable mobile products and platforms

  • 3+ years of experience with Agile delivery

  • 3+ years experience delivering large and complex programs owning the business or technical vision, collaborating with large cross-functional teams, securing commitments on deliverables, and unblocking teams to land business impact

  • 1+ year of experience building systems and solutions within a highly regulated environment
