The Team

At Capital One, the Enterprise Value Optimization (EVO) group is a team of analysts within the Enterprise Consumer Product (ECP) organization that owns Capital One’s customer-facing digital experiences and messaging channels. As the analytical center of excellence for ECP, our mission is to leverage data and analysis to maximize the value of Capital One’s digital experiences for both customers and for the business. We build data products, design and analyze experiments, analytically source new product opportunities, and partner closely with Product and Engineering to shape the future of data-powered CX at Capital One. 

The Role

This Chief of Staff role reports to the executive lead of EVO and sits on the EVO leadership team. This role will steward a portfolio of initiatives where central coordination and aligning with partners within EVO and across the enterprise are key for well-managed delivery, including strategy development and implementation, leadership team routines, large-format and executive meetings/events.

The role is perfect for someone with a strategic mindset, product curiosity, end user centricity, and an established execution history. 

  • Strategic leadership: Develop business strategies for the EVO team that will drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory demands 

  • Execution: Manage and sequence delivery across various requirements including team strategy development, executive and partner reporting, and team culture initiatives.  Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently 

  • Partnership: Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including Product, Design, Tech, Analysis, Strategy and Finance to accelerate the team’s product delivery

  • Strategic; analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation

  • Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: They should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business 

  • Solid people leadership experience: Ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise. They should foster innovation, drive critical decisions, and be able to consistently deliver results 

  • Strong executive communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills 

  • Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. They should be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment

  • Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment. Previous consulting experience is a plus

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Bachelors Degree or Military Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in Business Analysis

  • At least 2 years experience in budget management

  • At least 5 years in Project Management OR 5 years in Process Management

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Master’s degree

  • Experience serving in a Chief of Staff or critical Project Management Lead role in a large, complex, and matrixed company

  • 2+ years of experience in the Financial Services industry

  • 1+ year of experience in Consulting

  • 3+ years of experience in People Management

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $226,000 - $257,900 for Director, Chief of Staff


 

New York, NY: $246,500 - $281,300 for Director, Chief of Staff


 

Richmond, VA: $205,400 - $234,400 for Director, Chief of Staff


 

San Francisco, CA: $246,500 - $281,300 for Director, Chief of Staff


 


 


 


 


 


 


 

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
