Manager, Brand Global Social Media & Governance 

Whether it be through award-winning advertising and social media content or the delivery of world-class experiences, Capital One’s Brand team is an enterprise services team at the center of growing and protecting one of the nation’s most recognizable financial services brands. 

The newly created Manager of Global Social Media and Governance will be a critical expert, a standard-setter, and a high profile communicator and educator within our enterprise brand governance team. As a leader within Capital One’s social media center-of-excellence, your work will be to establish and spearhead a robust communications and education strategy for Brand Governance at scale. You will have the opportunity to partner with marketers across international and domestic geographies to enable innovative marketing and brand-building programs that serve a wide variety of audiences and objectives. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Responsibilities
Brand Governance Communications & Standards Development

  • Develop and spearhead the holistic communications strategy and proactive programming for a newly formed Brand Governance organization that is charged with driving brand consistency, protection and safety across the Capital One enterprise

  • Partner with functional program leads to understand and support awareness driving and educational communications to roll out brand safety and protection standards

  • Build influential relationships with independent teams across the enterprise to enable well managed growth and innovation across the enterprise

  • Envision and support the development of new programming to further strengthen engagement with Brand Governance programs

  • Directly manage one or more audiences (line-of-business leaders, social media practitioners, etc.) and communications platforms (intranet pages, email channels, internal community chat groups) to deliver consistent messaging across the enterprise

  • Become a brand governance general expert who can connect the dots across various functional expert teams (creative, media, talent management, etc.) as needed

  • Support development of new policies and standards for the growing organization
     

Global Social Strategy Integration

  • Develop and spearhead programs and standards to enable well-managed growth across Capital One’s growing international presence

  • Establish consistent standards guardrails and processes for how the brand leverages social, site, and other marketing channels globally

  • Own the cross-pollination and connectivity strategy for Capital One’s U.S. and international social presences

  • Support and enable international teams to develop and launch in-country strategies within the brand’s established risk tolerances

  • Help others navigate by connecting international teams to enterprise resources with the subject expertise they need to foster well-managed growth

  • Partner across External Communications, Paid Media, Tech, Talent Marketing, and international teams to drive visibility and ensure a cohesive strategy across independent teams

  • Facilitate development of consistent social media policy and education including international associate social-media policy adherence and education

  • Lead a community of practice for international social media practitioners

  • Lead and support global associate education initiatives

The right person will bring with them: 

  • Brand-management experience within a large scale, matrixed organization

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent understanding of navigating the contemporary digital and social media landscape

  • Strong risk-management judgment

  • Strong interpersonal skills 

  • Proven ability to autonomously manage multiple projects simultaneously

Basic Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in marketing or communications in a regulated industry

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with multi-cultural or multilingual marketing strategy or a combination of both

  • Experience managing social media and content marketing for a fortune 100 brand 

  • Experience working on a fortune 100 brand on a global scale

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Richmond, VA: $132,800 - $151,600 for Manager, Marketing


 

New York, NY: $159,400 - $181,900 for Manager, Marketing


 

McLean, VA: $146,100 - $166,700 for Manager, Marketing


 


 


 


 


 


 


 


 

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
