As a Product Manager for The Lab, you will be sourcing new problems from our different lines of business, exploring novel technical implementations to solve those problems, working with designers and engineers to rapidly prototype, and then navigating a rich set of cross-functional teams in order to deploy solutions in-market. This team is focused on creating high-impact solutions that drive measurable business impact and deliver customer joy. We’re passionate about building software and solutions that are going to shape the direction of not just the company, but the industry.
The ideal candidate for this role is passionate about technology, has a track record of building things “zero to one”, and deeply empathizes with internal and external customer needs. They are comfortable in conversation with engineering teams, working with UX researchers on early explorations, designers on concrete user journeys and flows, as well as stakeholders ranging from data scientists to senior leaders. They are entrepreneurial self starters, adept at navigating large, complex, matrixed organizations.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Sitting with and observing senior leaders and individual contributors in different parts of the company to source new, important, unsolved problems
Researching and staying up-to-date with current technologies that could impact our business or enable new solutions
Formulating technically viable solutions to high-impact problems and aligning with design and engineering on concrete plans for delivery
Mapping out risks and rigorously derisking plan execution to minimize time wastage
Developing and communicating the product vision and strategy
Incorporate design thinking and analytics to inform product design
Enable collaboration and ensure communication between teams
Support the team with escalation and resolution of impediments
Serve as the connection between customers, Capital One’s mission, and your team
You:

Have strong skills from outside of the financial industry
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
At least 3 years of experience in product management or at least 5 years of experience in product design, agile delivery, business analysis, data science, or software engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
Been on a founding team or in a startup environment
History navigating large matrixed organizations, bonus if in regulated industries
MBA or Master’s degree
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA (Hybrid On-site):
$158,400-$180,800 for Manager, Product Management
New York City (Hybrid On-site):
$172,800 - $197,400 for Manager, Product Management
San Francisco (Hybrid On-site):
$172,800 - $197,200 for Manager, Product Management
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
