Senior Associate, Business Continuity & Operational Resilience | Retail Bank Risk

As a Senior Associate in the Bank Risk Office, you will apply your analytical, technical, and delivery skills to advance our Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and Operational Resilience framework. You will partner closely with the business, technology teams, and risk partners to perform deep dive Business Impact Analyses (BIAs), map operational dependencies, and ensure the organization can prevent, adapt to, and recover from operational disruptions.

This role requires a proactive problem solver who is comfortable asking probing questions across all functional areas—translating technical application dependencies into business risks, maintaining rigorous, audit ready documentation, and leveraging data analytics to drive resiliency insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Continuity Plan QA, Business Impact Analysis (BIA) & Dependency Mapping
  • Deliver on the annual BCP Plan QA requirements through QA assessments, documentation and updates through individual QA sessions and broader forums

  • Support the execution of comprehensive Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) across Banking & Premium Products to identify critical business functions, Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs), and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs).

  • Probe and map end-to-end operational dependencies, including critical third parties, personnel, and key technical/application dependencies in collaboration with IT and Infrastructure teams.

  • Ensure alignment between business recovery timeframes and underlying technology Disaster Recovery (DR) capabilities, identifying and escalating gaps or single points of failure where identified

Operational Resilience & Business Continuity Strategy

  • Integrate traditional Business Continuity planning with overarching Operational Resilience principles to safeguard important business services and keep impact within defined tolerance levels.

  • Partner with cross-functional business leaders to develop, maintain, and exercise actionable continuity and recovery strategies while leveraging CoP relationships for cross LoB alignment

  • Facilitate and partner on development of scenario based testing, tabletop exercises, and simulation drills to validate the operational readiness of business units and technology applications.

Data Analytics & Metrics Reporting

  • Collect, analyze, and synthesize continuity and resilience data to track key indicators (KRIs/KPIs), posture health, and testing compliance.

  • Build dashboard views and data models to evaluate organizational readiness and present actionable insights to senior management and risk committees.

  • Drive process automation and data-driven improvements in business continuity tools and management reporting while leveraging AI capabilities as applicable.

Governance, Audit, & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and maintain structured, high-quality documentation that meets strict internal governance standards and withstands 2nd/3rd line of defense audits and regulatory examinations.

  • Support regulatory inquiries and internal audit reviews by providing clear evidence of BIA completions, dependency mappings, test results, and issue remediation.

  • Continuously refine continuity templates, questioning frameworks, and methodologies to reflect industry best practices and emerging risks.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in Business Continuity, Operational Resilience, Disaster Recovery, or Operational Risk Management.

  • At least 2 years of experience conducting Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) and dependency mapping (including technology/application dependencies).

  • At least 2 years of experience using data analytics tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, SQL, or Google Suite analytics) to analyze risk metrics and build reporting dashboards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 4+ years of experience in Business Continuity, Operational Resilience, or Risk Management within Financial Services or a heavily regulated environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage, interview, and influence cross-functional technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong knowledge of IT Disaster Recovery concepts, application architecture basics, and cloud dependency risks.

  • Professional certifications such as CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional), ABCP, or AMBCI.
