Senior Business Manager - Integration Transformation & Strategy

As a Senior Manager, Business Analysis at Capital One, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges. The Role:

We are looking for an exceptional and results-driven individual to join the Integration Transformation Office (ITO) team, driving the tech integration for the Capital One - Discover Financial Services (DFS) merger. The ITO team is at the heart of Capital One’s integration with DFS, helping set the vision and the plan to bring these two incredible companies together. The Integration Transformation & Strategy role has tech integration oversight over a number of critical workstreams, including the Global Payment Network, International and Associate Tech Enablement, as well as Vendor Rationalization.

As a Senior Manager of Integration Transformation & Strategy at Capital One, you will drive strategy and execute on high priority projects for the company (tied to the success of the integration). You will work with smart and passionate people to deliver results that have a direct impact on the integration and tech transformation tied to the merger between Capital One and DFS. You will take on important and exciting responsibility from day one, working autonomously with key stakeholders across the company. You will partner with the leadership of the Integration and Tech organizations, and with our partners across Capital One and Discover, to go well beyond top-level strategy and support them to define milestones, roadmaps, prioritize the work, determine how to measure results, and implement the recommended solutions. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner cross-functionally with customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery. Build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments: Develop and maintain relationships with key partners. Become a trusted project manager, and strategic thought partner to integration leaders, and work closely with leaders to scope, prioritize, drive and support a range of integration and strategic initiatives, gather insights and requirements, ideate, and drive alignment.

  • Designing, developing, and managing plans in a complex dynamic environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements. Crystallize and cascade down what are the right constraints or guardrails on which to operate.

  • Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: Be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business.

  • Determine appropriate program model and Governance for Controls, Monitoring, Risks and Key Decisions tracking. Seek automation outcomes including guiding the effort through material change and risk management frameworks.

  • Develop and deliver senior level risk management governance, reporting and communications: Be comfortable raising flags and concerns early, and speaking up when milestones are at risk and/or working is not progressing.

  • Strategic Project Support: Actively participate in cross-functional strategic projects related to the integration work. This will include:

    • Understanding strategic issues and the role of your team in addressing those issues,

    • Oversee the development of project proposals, work plans, primary and secondary research, and qualitative and quantitative analysis,

    • Manage ambiguity and consistently seek to drive clarity amongst team, partners and key stakeholders,

    • Package strategic and analytical insights into clear, concise, and “executive-ready” presentations. Craft storylines that clearly articulate findings, insights, and recommendations,

    • Directly liaise and communicate with senior leadership to move the organization to action. Communicate findings to senior management and to the broader organization, influencing upward and laterally to drive organizational change and alignment. Lead comfortably meetings of varying size, complexity and audience seniority,

    • Ensure that our recommendations are driven through to implementation by providing thought leadership and, when necessary, stepping in to lead execution.

  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and actively support the professional growth of junior team members. Serve as a primary onboarding point of contact for new associates, providing coaching, guidance, and informal mentorship. Seek opportunities to coach and elevate the skills of colleagues, through actionable feedback and collaboration on projects.

  • Internal Leadership: Responsible for helping to lead and drive internal initiatives including but not limited to recruiting, staffing, diversity & inclusion, social activities, etc. Effective leadership within a matrixed organization is critical.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any quantitative field (Business, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Science, Engineering)

  • At least 2 years of experience in quantitative analysis

  • At least 2 years of experience in qualitative analysis

  • At least 1 year of experience in people management

  • At least 1 year of experience in project management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business or quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in quantitative analysis

  • 5+ years of experience in qualitative analysis

  • 2+ years of experience in people management

  • 2+ years of experience in product development

  • 2+ years of experience in financial modeling

  • 2+ years of experience in economic forecasting

  • 2+ years of experience in project management

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Chicago, IL: $175,500 - $200,300 for Sr. Business Manager


 

McLean, VA: $193,000 - $220,300 for Sr. Business Manager


 

New York, NY: $210,500 - $240,300 for Sr. Business Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
