Senior Manager, Chief of Staff, Central Services (ES Risk)

The Chief of Staff (CoS) team requires big-picture strategic thinkers who pay close attention to details and are ready to take on high-visibility and high-impact work. The team plays a critical role across ES Risk- building and nurturing relationships within the organization, across lines of business and partner teams, and even outside of Capital One. The team is an important culture carrier for the organization, modeling the right behaviors and creating a shared sense of purpose, leadership, and accountability with and for the team. 

We are currently hiring for a Senior Manager, Chief of Staff responsible for moving the needle across several key functions including Executive Support & Strategy (OKRs) and Top of House (ToH) Governance. The individual will work with their direct leadership and CoS team in Central Services, as well as tower CoS teams to support both the ESR SLT and broader organization. Key areas of accountability include: driving strategic goals across ESR, building and refining leadership governance routines and deliverables, partnering with the SLT on key strategic projects, and ensuring collaboration across teams. In addition, this role serves a critical function as an administrator for our organization’s work management system, Adobe Workfront.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, able to think on their feet, understand the process of setting and delivering on strategic goals (OKRs), have sharp execution skills, and know how to lead and drive change. They should be able to connect the dots between good process and great results, effectively influence others to achieve goals, and drive meaningful conversations with senior leaders. Candidates should be self-motivated, with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, executive presence, and a passion for solving complex problems. Responsibilities: 

  • Define and execute leadership routines to support the organization, including but not limited to:  Support of SLT & ELT meetings;  ESR MBR development, delivery and optimization efforts, and additional ESR governance functions as needed

  • Support annual and ongoing strategic planning at ToH and across the organization

  • Manage tracking and reporting of ToH goals to illustrate progress against ESR Imperatives

  • Manage general workflow and day-to-day activities in support of organizational goals; assist the team in prioritization and make recommendations to leadership as needed 

  • Lead onboarding and ongoing administrative support of ESR’s work management system, Adobe Workfront. Serve as the ESR point of contact with the Enterprise Workfront Team on support needs

  • Drive horizontal and business critical efforts, including coordination and other Chief of Staff teams on office decisions, and planning efforts with other key business partners

  • Partner with other the other CoS teams within ES Risk to ensure broad organization efforts and routines are managed efficiently

  • Support high visibility ad hoc projects and programs requested by SLT (e.g. offsite support)

  • Ability to multitask and quickly context-shift, while demonstrating urgency, prioritization and ownership to drive projects to completion 

  • Reacts seamlessly to change in priorities and delivery focus 

  • Effectively balances strategy and tactical delivery 

  • Broad understanding of organizational dynamics, including Capital One dynamics, to influence and drive successful outcomes

  • Strong business judgment, influencing skills, leadership, and integrity are essential for this position; must possess high EQ and be a collaborative team player

  • Self-starter who works autonomously and takes initiative

  • Strong facilitation, negotiation, and mediation skills; ability to drive consensus/decisions

  • Creative and broad problem solver, with ability to thrive in a fast-paced business while balancing business priorities

  • Analytically rigorous and intellectually curious

  • Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize work and deliver work through others

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in project, program, or process management

  • At least 5 years of experience consulting or strategy building with executives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience working closely with executives

  • 1+ years of Chief of Staff and Strategy experience

  • 1+ years of experience navigating and influencing change management both with executive leadership and associates

  • 1+ years of experience managing highly visible projects that require the ability to manage cross-functional team members, remove obstacles, and influence appropriately
