Senior Manager, Product Management - Delivery Pipelines

This CI/CD platform is the common developer experience for the 1,800 software development teams at Capital One. The platform enables us to continue thriving in the cloud in a safe and well-managed way by standardizing best practices and automating compliance and security requirements. As a Product Manager on the Delivery Experience Product  team, you will design and deliver best-in-class managed compute solutions that improve the quality of life of our software delivery teams while maintaining the highest quality and security standards. You will work with stakeholders at every level to identify and resolve pain points for software development teams throughout the software delivery life cycle. This team is focused on building a software delivery platform that is intuitive, reliable, automated, secure, adaptable, and fast. We’re passionate about building platform software for the next generation of developers at Capital One.  

 

In this role, you will advocate for the needs of the customer  while building our platform roadmap. You will ensure that the capabilities  we deliver achieve the intended business outcomes. You will be responsible for shaping multi-year strategies and partnering with tech teams to deliver platform features. As an ideal candidate for this role, you are passionate about technology, you deeply understand how developers work,  and  genuinely and thoroughly empathize with internal and external customer needs. You are comfortable in conversation with engineering teams as well as stakeholders ranging from data scientists to senior leaders. 


 

As part of the Delivery Experience Product Team, you will: 

  • Execute product management best practices in pursuit of an improved experience for Capital One engineers when they use our application deployment infrastructure.

  • Drive execution of product strategies for cloud-native software deployment technologies based on Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

  • Develop vision and strategy based on industry research and grounded on a foundation of solving problems for our customers.

  • As we evolve our pipeline, lead evaluation of third party solutions for fit, including, but not limited to: meeting our requirements, compatibility with our systems, and compliance with our security needs.

  • Advocate for the product perspective in cross-functional collaborations among stakeholders including cybersecurity, risk, compliance, supplier management, engineering, and our lines of business.

  • Develop and maintain your product's roadmap to realize positive outcomes for our customers and help the delivery experience team achieve our key results.

  • Oversee the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation and requirements gathering through launch and operation by defining, updating, and monitoring metrics and enhancing the system to improve those metrics.


 

In this role, you’ll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in five key areas:

You’ll model adaptability by encouraging continuous evolution to product strategy in light of industry trends, emerging solutions, new insights and changing customer and business needs

You’ll deeply learn the financial drivers, externalities, and points of leverage within your domain to identify new products or product enhancements that drive sustainable value for Capital One. You’ll be promote a culture anchored in data, used to instrument products, validate outcomes, drive insights, and manage the business both tactically and strategically

  • Technology Driven. You’ll be responsible for fostering a strong agile discipline and inspiring teams to continuously improve delivery evidenced through key agility metrics. You’ll partner with Technology leaders to influence end-state architecture and drive secure, resilient, performant and scalable technology solutions that solve material customer and business problems. You’ll govern the responsible and efficient application of technology resources by assessing opportunities for reusing existing solutions, clearly defining minimum viable products, and always building with extensibility in mind

  • Integrated Problem Solving. Develop and champion a bold vision that drives meaningful outcomes by embracing the art of the possible. Build frameworks for complex decision making that enable effective debate and accelerate getting to the right answer

  • Transformational Leadership. You’ll establish a long-term product portfolio strategy, informed by customer and business needs, and partner with leaders and stakeholders to regularly drive alignment, secure resources and overcome impediments. You’ll attract, grow, empower, and inspire top product talent as they develop and deliver on their local product strategy in an iterative, outcome-focused and well-managed way

  • Learner. You have an appetite to learn new things or new technologies all while exhibiting humbleness when exploring unknown technologies; you will seek for internal solutions before building new

  • Team Player. You enjoy working with diverse people and driving the team toward a common goal. You are also able to coach others and be a mentor in product development.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in digital product management 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering

  • MBA or Master’s degree

  • 5+ years of experience in Agile product management

  • 5+ years of experience translating business strategy and analysis into consumer facing digital products

  • 1+ years of experience as a product manager for platform solutions (even better if it’s a CI/CD platform)

  • 1+ years of experience with DevOps Product Management teams and strategies

  • 1+ years of experience in Infrastructure as Code technologies such as CloudFormation and Terraform

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $199,100 - $227,200 for Sr. Mgr, Product Management

Illinois (Hybrid On-Site): $185,600 - $211,800 for Sr. Mgr, Product Management

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
