Senior Software Engineer, Cyber IAM Identity Analytics Intelligence

Capital One is seeking an experienced engineer within the Cyber Identity and Access Management organization to be a member of a team responsible for managing and securing Capital One’s enterprise Directory Services that includes Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, AWS managed Microsoft Active Directory, and Google Cloud Domain Directory.

Candidates for this role should have experience in engineering, deploying, and supporting comprehensive and secure authentication solutions. In addition, this includes performing risk assessments, addressing key attack vectors, and driving automated solutions to complex problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop automated solutions using scripts, pipelines, and cloud based server-less computing platforms

  • Analyze, design, and support a highly complex, enterprise level Active Directory and Single Sign On services in a hybrid on-premise and cloud hosted environment

  • Protect and secure Capital One’s enterprise Active Directory environments, including on-premise and cloud environments from Amazon, Microsoft, and Google

  • Manage enterprise cloud infrastructures in AWS, Azure, and Google cloud platforms

  • Manage and automate vulnerability remediation and perform security testing to proactively identify and remediate security risks within the Active Directory environment

  • Participate in the analysis, troubleshooting, investigation, and remediation of operations or security related incidents

  • Develop and generate periodic security audits to ensure the various platform environments adhere to Capital One’s and industry standard security, risk, and compliance requirements

  • Participate in disaster recovery, capacity planning, performance monitoring, and maintenance to ensure high availability

  • Support tools from Microsoft, Quest, and OneID to better protect the environment and monitor for security breaches, intrusions, and irregular system and user behavior

  • Partner with CyberSecurity teams to support forensic investigations and ensure integration with enterprise SIEM systems such as Splunk

  • Be familiar with technologies such as SSO, FIDO/FIDO2, Passwordless, AuthZ, AuthN, and products like, Ping, Okta, and Windows Hello

  • Deep understanding of core AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, Glue, VPC, or IAM

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, or similar

  • Automating deployment, configuration, and operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort

  • Managing and monitoring AWS cloud resources and ensuring their availability, performance, security, and scalability

  • Implementing and maintaining security best practices, including IAM, Security Groups, and VPCs, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations

  • Identifying areas for performance improvement and implementing solutions to optimize application performance and cost-effectiveness in the cloud

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • At least 3 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Python, SQL, Scala, or Java

  • 3+ years of experience in open source frameworks

  • 2+ years of experience with AWS 

  • 2+ years of experience in building and configuring CI/CD pipelines

  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York, NY: $173,000 - $197,400 for Principal Associate Senior Software Engineer; $173,000 - $197,400 for Senior Software Engineer

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
