Manager, Card Risk Analytics & Reporting

Card Risk plays a pivotal role in helping our Card business execute in a well managed manner and innovate for the next greatest experience and product for our customers. As strategic advisors and risk analysts, we use data to look around corners to support winning business strategies and minimize the risk of disruptions. 

The Card Risk Executive Reporting team is looking for a Manager candidate who wants to become part of a dynamic reporting environment that has its pulse on what’s happening throughout the business. This opportunity provides for significant professional growth and exposure to senior management. The ideal candidate must be able to effectively communicate and influence partners across multiple functional areas and levels of the organization. Strong data analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic agile environment are essential to succeeding in this role. The individual will display leadership skills and be able to drive and motivate others in delivering flawless execution. This individual should feel comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative information and can move from the “gray” area to grounded recommendation in an organized and transparent manner. 

The candidate would be responsible for:

  • Delivering existing monthly and quarterly reporting routines with a focus on voice of the customer and continuous improvement

  • Building relationships and leading others to facilitate robust risk reporting packages and discussions

  • Interacting with Card Risk leadership as well as the Second and Third Lines of Defense to identify and fulfill new reporting needs and capabilities

  • Leveraging data, knowledge, and technology to tell stories and glean insights 

  • Developing requirements for Data Analysts to automate and streamline reporting

  • Leading a Community of Practice focused on building the risk/data analytics “muscle” across the entire Card Risk organization. 

Desired Skills:

  • Self-starter with a background in banking, financial services, and/or the Card business

  • Understanding of risk management principles and the three Lines of Defense framework

  • Strong data analytical skill

  • Experience creating business insights and reports using analytical and data platforms (e.g., ThoughtSpot, Quicksight, Snowflake) and structured query language (SQL)

  • Experience in structuring and executing change plans across an organization's complexities and managing stakeholders through the change 

  • Independent problem-solving and discretion

  • Aptitude for synthesizing complex issues into a clear and concise summary

  • Proactive and results-oriented

  • Ability to establish credibility, trust and support within all levels of the organization

  • Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to change

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

  • At least 4 years of experience in Risk Management, Audit or Governance

  • At least 2 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients

  • At least 2 years of experience in data analysis, business analytics, or project management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Management, Risk Management, Financial Analysis, Process Management, Project Management, Communications, Computer Science or Information Systems 

  • At least 5 years of experience in Risk Management, Audit or Governance

  • 1+ year(s) of experience leading people or project team

  • Risk management certifications

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $146,100 - $166,700 for Risk Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
