Manager- Criminal Background Screening Adjudication & I9 Team

As the Manager of our I9 logistics and criminal background screening adjudication teams, you will have oversight and resources responsible for ensuring I9 collection and reverification compliance, as well as managing the criminal background screening adjudicating results which determines employment eligibility. You will manage the vendor relationship.  You will be responsible for all associated process controls and ensure strong partnerships to support the overall up and downstream partner processesI9 .  This position works closely with candidates, Hiring Logistics, the Background Standard owner, the HR Business Risk Office and internal/external Legal teams to ensure compliance across the enterprise domestically and internationally and requires laser  focus on compliance, regulatory & process adherence.

Relationship Management: Serve as a primary point of contact for our vendor; building and maintaining strong internal and external relationships across the enterprise.

Project Management: Manage multiple projects concurrently in an autonomous environment; ability to generate and pursue ideas; written and verbal communications with stakeholders. 

Collaboration: Partner with internal risk, legal and other partner groups to ensure all relevant policies and procedures are aligned with regulatory guidelines and Capital One standards. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage high performing team of direct and indirect reports

  • Lead process team focused on compliance when collecting I9 collection reverification

  • Lead process team’s execution and adherence for background screening adjudication across the enterprise for all associates and contractors

  • Collaborate with external and internal Legal partners to apply, interpret and implement legislative and regulatory guideline process updates

  • Oversight for quality assurance across processes

  • Actively remain current on the changing regulatory environment, assess impacts and ensure compliance for all  impacts to your processes  

  • Demonstrate curiosity and aptitude to learn about the current regulatory environment and internal policies within this process

  • Identify, drive and implement process improvements; own incident reporting & management 

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent certification

  • At least 1 year of experience in Project or Process Management

  • At least 2 years of experience Risk Management

  • At least 2 years of experience in People Management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 

  • At least 3 years experience in People Management

  • At least 3 years experience in Process Management

  • At least 3 years of experience Risk Management

  • 2 year of experience as paralegal or experience in legal or law firm environment

  • 2 years of experience in General Human Resources

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
