Principal Associate, Risk Management - Process Management

The Human Resources Risk Office is seeking a Principal Associate to join our Horizontal Risk Advisory Team..

Principal Risk Associates at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent organizational and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company. Our process team in HR Risk is seeking a highly motivated Principal associate to lead our Regulatory Change Process.

Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and facilitate HRs process to review requirement change notices  to determine need for implementation

  • Review legal requirement language and legislative bill text for applicability to Human Resources

  • Maintain awareness of legal landscape at both state and federal levels to identify upcoming trends for leadership and stakeholders

  • Facilitate collaborative meetings with 1st and 2nd line participants

  • Coordinate the various process interactions including meeting logistics

  • Manage business implementation plans with required update policies, standards, procedures, training, controls, and/or any other necessary steps to comply with applicable Requirements, and inform Legal of changes to business activities

  • Maintain metrics and reporting on Regulatory Change for internal and stakeholders

  • Manage and maintain process documentation 

  • Support and help develop HR Reg Change process expansion to support HR applicability in global markets 

  • Be intellectually curious to question the obvious, explore options, and seek to develop and implement efficiencies and process improvements

  • Provide training to Stakeholders as needed

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills are essential for success in this role

  • Able to self manage, prioritize work and and consistently deliver results

  • Able to flex into executing on other risk management activities as needed 

Basic Qualifications:  

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification

  • At least 2 years of experience with Process Management

  • At least 2 years of experience Risk Management 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in process management

  • At least 3 years of experience working in Risk Management

  • At least 2 years of experience in Human Resources

  • Strong problem-solving and conceptual skills

  • Experience in controls development, controls management, control testing and reporting activities

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $117,300 - $133,900 for Principal Risk Specialist

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
