Small businesses are the backbone of America and a vital part of the economy as a whole. Their success is essential to economic growth and prosperity. We believe that confidence is the best business plan. Within Capital One’s Small Business Bank (SBB) division, we help our clients stand out with personalized advice and resources that can help them prepare for what’s next. We’ve helped hundreds of thousands of business owners secure their finances, streamline their cash flow, and save time on banking. We provide a variety of competitive savings, checking, escrow, lending, and treasury management products. This is supported by our mission to help small businesses succeed. Our clients aren’t just our clients—they’re our business partners.
Capital One’s Small Business Bank is looking for an Associate who is inspired by people, process, data, and technology. In this role, you will support efforts to define, configure, and optimize destination-state experiences for both our Associates and Customers.
As an Associate within Small Business Lending, you will apply your technical and analytical skills to manage and optimize our lending infrastructure. Working under the guidance of the Platforms Manager, you will serve as a key platform administrator, ensuring our systems and processes are effectively configured. You will play a pivotal role in the next phase of our platform’s evolution—testing and adopting untapped features to bring legacy manual processes into our core system.
Responsibilities
System Configuration: Execute the functional administration of the loan originations platform, ensuring configurations align with established business rules and operational goals.
Feature Implementation: Partner with the manager to test, implement, and drive adoption for untapped platform features, such as Financial Spreading, SBA Lending modules, and Third-Party AI integrations.
Workflow Automation: Explore and assist in the deployment of automation flows to replace manual processes, directly contributing to the team’s goal of increased operational efficiency.
Optimization Support: Stay current with platform updates to identify opportunities for process automation and improved system performance.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner cross-functionally to provide tactical support and technical insight, helping to translate business objectives into functional system solutions.
Voice of the Customer: Act as a technical representative for internal and external customers, providing the data and system logic needed to influence organizational roadmaps.
Project Delivery: Support the timely execution of projects within a challenging environment, ensuring all system changes are implemented within risk parameters.
Reporting & Data Maintenance: Develop and maintain custom reports and dashboards within the originations platform. Monitor existing suites to identify data gaps and ensure metrics remain accurate and aligned with evolving business goals.
What skills you need to bring to the table:
Results-Oriented Problem Solver: You are motivated by finding "the fix." You don't just identify a problem; you autonomously explore underlying issues and implement solutions in a fast-paced environment. You are a self-starter who can "drive the needle" on platform adoption without needing a detailed roadmap for every task.
Precision & Risk Management: You operate with a "well-managed" mindset, ensuring the platform remains perpetually audit-ready. You are naturally risk-averse, performing your work with high attention to detail and minimal error to protect the integrity of the lending operation.
Data Accuracy & Analysis: You are adept at using Excel or Google Sheets (PivotTables, complex formulas, and conditional formatting) to summarize and analyze data. You don't just pull reports; you verify the accuracy of the data and use it to track platform performance and process efficiency.
Exceptional Communicator: You can distill complex platform configurations into clear updates for stakeholders. Your verbal and written communication is professional, concise, and effective at influencing cross-functional partners across all levels of the company.
Autonomous Execution: You thrive in an environment where you are given an objective and the space to achieve it. You take initiative to stay current on platform enhancements and proactively suggest efficiencies that align with leadership’s goals.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience
At least 2 years of Project Management or Process Management experience
At least 2 years of SaaS Platform Administration experience
