We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join the Controllers Group as a Principal Risk Associate. You’ll be responsible for working with business and technology partners to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One. Risk Managers at Capital One are highly motivated professionals with excellent organizational and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company.  In this role you will focus on supporting finance application project teams to ensure we have well-managed processes.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Risk and process consulting to one or more application team and provide advice and guidance as required to support change management and user readiness

  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and standards related to application projects

  • Build a management control program around all controls and standards

  • Monitor user sentiment, process health and coach application teams accordingly

  • Assist teams with project planning activities for change management and user readiness 

  • Develop and leverage key relationships with stakeholders that enable collaboration across the enterprise

  • Lead change control efforts at the process level to ensure impacts are appropriately assessed, documented and implemented

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in Project or Risk Management 

  • At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Project Management experience leading cross functional projects and programs in Risk

  • 4+ years of experience supporting financial, accounting, and reporting application teams 

  • 4+ years of experience working in an Agile environment

  • 4+ years of experience using Jira

  • 3+ years of experience in Financial Services

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $117,300 - $133,900 for Principal Risk Specialist


 

Richmond, VA: $106,700 - $121,700 for Principal Risk Specialist

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
