Senior Manager, Premium Card Accounting

As a Senior Manager in Card Accounting at Capital One, you will get a front row seat to exciting strategic initiatives in the Card line of business as you oversee the accounting and reporting for Branded Card, Premium Products, and horizontal functions. You will lead a high-performing team with a focus on evolving our financial processes alongside new business initiatives and product launches. 

You will bring a risk-centric mindset to govern important financial processes and ensure financial results are reported completely and accurately. Your role will provide an opportunity to present financial analysis, technical accounting impacts and more to executive stakeholders and partner with Financial Planning, Corporate Development and others to drive appropriate accounting and reporting in our external filings and internal reporting. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of motivated associates responsible for accurate accounting and financial reporting of Branded Card and Premium Products results

  • Actively support training, development, and evaluation of associates to create a high-performing, cohesive team

  • Present monthly, quarterly and annual analysis of Card and Premium results to VP+ and Controller, focusing on explaining key drivers of periodic changes and differences to expectations

  • Develop deep subject matter expertise in technical accounting aspects of the Premium products portfolio and consult with business partners on accounting treatment impacts financial reporting

  • Build relationships, collaborate, and partner cross-functionally with customers and key stakeholders

  • Support compliance activities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience

  • At least 7 years of experience in accounting, finance, audit, or a combination

  • At least 1 year of experience in project management, product management, or a combination 

  • At least 1 year of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License 

  • At least 3 years experience in banking, financial services, or a combination

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $170,800 - $194,900 for Sr. Manager, Accounting


 

Richmond, VA: $155,300 - $177,200 for Sr. Manager, Accounting

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
