Sr. Director, Enterprise Architecture - Capital One Shopping (Remote-Eligible)

As an Sr. Director, Enterprise Architecture at Capital One Shopping, you will be working with software engineering teams guiding architecture of advertising products; owning and facilitating architecture development; reviewing architecture; providing feedback on application designs; providing input on company-wide initiatives; embedding in engineering teams to jump start complex projects; and helping raise the talent bar by recruiting and hiring top engineering talent. You will also work with product owners to articulate benefits of proposed solutions; influence the technical roadmap of enterprise platforms; and help business prioritize work. The Sr. Director, Enterprise Architecture will drive technology strategy and adoption. In this role, the architect will help define and drive towards an end state that is based on simplicity. The architect will also advocate for their domain when reviewing enterprise solutions and standards.

The person we’re looking for:

  • Be an advocate for business needs in the enterprise risk and architecture space

  • Have depth and breadth of knowledge across multiple software engineering disciplines

  • Be self-driven, actively look for ways to contribute, and knows how to get things done

  • Be hands-on with scaling applications to support heavy internet traffic in distributed systems

  • Have excellent communication and reasoning skills, including the ability to make a strong case for technology choices

  • Have ability to build consensus and iteratively improve solutions

  • Firmly believe in leading by influence and by adding value

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • At least 9 years of experience with enterprise architecture, software architecture, and design patterns

  • At least 7 years of people management experience

  • At least 5 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience of working with business leaders on the implications of architectural decisions

  • 5+ years of experience with complex architectural patterns, building APIs, microservices, and event streams

  • 5+ years experience with DevOps or DevSecOps and building CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Artifactory, Chef, Ansible, Terraform, GitHub, and Sonar

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
