Role Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Risk professional with excellent organizational, project & process management and communication skills. This individual will have demonstrated the ability to mine data, identify grounded problem statements and drive holistic solutions that deliver business value. In this role, you will support and manage work within the Operations Well Managed team, with a high level of exposure to senior leaders. You will partner with colleagues across legal, compliance, finance, Card Risk and other lines of business to deliver results that have a direct impact on customer experience. You will directly support our horizontal continuous improvement framework (Signal, Organize and Solve) delivering process improvements and removing risk.
What You'll Do:
Provide leadership for Signal Organize and Solve (SOS) framework through established processes to identify and mitigate emerging risk signals across the Customer Services & Strategy ecosystem
Use Lean Six Sigma and other analytical methods to detect process/control gaps, and emerging risks within key processes
Leverage data from Risk Events/Issues, Risk Signal Dashboard, Complaints and other data sources to derive insights that will influence risk mitigation
Perform data-driven assessments to evaluate process health, identify trends, and determine root causes of recurring issues
Validate severity, impact, and prioritization of identified risks in alignment with enterprise standards
Conduct end-to-end assessments to evaluate impacts across shared processes, customer experiences, and control environments.
Lead or support issue management activities, including root-cause validation, remediation planning, and sustainable solution design.
Review and assess remediation actions to confirm effectiveness, sufficiency, and alignment with enterprise risk expectations.
Monitor key risk indicators and produce clear reporting on emerging themes, control performance, and issue status.
Partner effectively with Legal, Compliance and other teams to understand exposure from breakdowns and control inefficiencies to provide guidance to the business
Provide subject-matter expertise in risk evaluation, process governance, and continuous improvement practices.
Influence the streamlining of interactions with the business operations and accountable executives to provide progress updates, timely escalation of obstacles, and process improvement opportunities
Develop a deep understanding of corporate risk management standards and utilize all Risk Management tools, playbooks and systems
Train and develop others as necessary

Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
At least 2 years of experience in Risk Management
At least 1 year of experience in Project Management
At least 1 year of experience in People Leadership
At least 2 years of experience using Google Suite or Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 3 years of experience in Risk Management
At least 2 years of experience in Project Management
At least 2 years of experience in People Leadership
At least 1 year of experience in Process Management
Work from Home Technology Requirements
Secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions
Reliable private internet connection that is not supplied via cellular data or hotspot is required

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Plano, TX: $106,700 - $121,700 for Principal Risk Specialist
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
