Virtual Interview FAQs

Understandably, you might have some questions about virtual interviews. We’re here to help! Keeping our candidates and associates safe and healthy is our top priority. Given the current uncertainty around the spread of COVID-19, we’ve moved entirely to virtual interviews.

1. What is a virtual interview?

Whether you’re participating in an in-person or virtual interview, our goal is the same—to get to know you better. Virtual interviews allow our interviewers to get to know you using video and web-conferencing services. Your interviewer will guide you through the process like any other interview. Our virtual interviewing system offers various functions that help support our interviews including:

    • Whiteboard: Draw and type freely to show work when problem solving with your interviewer
    • Screenshare: Allows users to share applications from their desktop or website (i.e. product design, spreadsheet, chart, etc.)
    • Chat: Ability to communicate real-time with your interviewer on your desktop or mobile device

2. How are virtual interviews different and how can I prepare?

Our virtual interviews are very similar to in-person. Many teams used virtual interviewing regularly before shifting to remote work, and we've received great feedback on the format from candidates and interviewers.

Please be sure you have a good internet connection and a quiet place to do your interviews. We also recommend dialing in using headphones and/or leveraging your phone to ensure audio clarity.

3. I have questions about accommodations for virtual interviewing—what should I do?

If you require an accommodation, please contact Capital One Recruiting at 1-800-304-9102 or via email at RecruitingAccommodation@capitalone.com. All information you provide will be kept confidential and will be used only to the extent required to provide necessary reasonable accommodation.

4. What is the new associate onboarding process like?

Currently, most Capital One associates are working from home and are appropriately equipped with the necessary equipment and supplies, such as laptops and monitors, VPN and Zoom video conferencing capabilities, as well as other technology resources to support our ongoing work remotely. New associate onboarding is currently a virtual experience, with training and ongoing meetings customized for you through your direct team and manager.
