Overview:

Capital One is seeking a culture-led, results-driven, and strategic Director of Global Payment Network (GPN) Finance.

This is an exciting time for GPN Central Finance, as we work to help grow the Network business, a key engine for Capital One’s success, during a time of particularly large and rapidly evolving developments in the internal and external landscape, including the opportunity created by migrating Capital One credit and debit cards on to the Network. 

The team helps shape the longer-term financial objectives of the GPN business, with a full P&L view of the consolidated GPN business. This role will allow you to see all aspects of our Network business, to drive meaningful insights for our senior executives that enable them to make informed decisions about growth and investment strategy, and to influence outcomes at the business level. 

This leader will report directly to the GPN CFO overseeing the GPN Central Finance function and managing cross-functional initiatives across GPN FP&A, to provide oversight for the actuals and outlook, coordinate across Network segment CFOs to understand segment-level performance, create synthesized insights and narratives for the overall GPN business, and present monthly and quarterly financial results to senior executives. In addition, this Director will lead strategic analyses on white space topics, long-term financial strategy, and other critical areas of financial strategy, along with overseeing GPN Finance’s well-managed and innovation agenda.

Role requires strong leadership, problem solving, strategic thinking, and influencing skills in order to effectively:

  • Articulate outcomes of analysis and relevant insights

  • Partner with business leadership to assess the financial implications of ongoing efforts to grow the organization

  • Develop presentations to communicate business and analysis results to senior leadership audiences

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Develop a deep understanding of the components of the GPN P&L to help drive insights and analytics on the financial performance of the total GPN business

  • Accurately analyze & explain key drivers and monthly variances, suggest actions to the business, and manage the regular reporting process for total GPN

  • Generate ongoing analytical insights into overall financial performance 

  • Develop and deliver senior management presentations

  • Ensure financial management of consolidated GPN P&L; proactively identify and resolve financial issues, lead near-term target management, long term strategic planning, and Resolution Planning and Goodwill processes

  • Collaborate across the broader GPN Finance team and partner effectively with other team leaders to drive cross-team projects and drive consistent adoption of best practices

  • Create well-managed sustainable processes and continuously challenge what’s possible

  • Independently manage, prioritize, and delegate tasks

  • Manage and develop direct team; coaching and mentoring associates with a goal of developing and retaining talent 

  • Be comfortable working in white space and the ability to get work done through others 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or other quantitative discipline, or military experience

  • At least 7 years of experience in Finance, Business Analytics, Accounting, Strategy Consulting, or a combination

  • At least 4 years’ experience managing a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function

  • At least 3 years of people management experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Finance

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license

  • 8+ years’ experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • 5+ years’ experience managing a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function

  • 4+ years of people management experience including both direct & indirect reports

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $206,000 - $235,100 for Director, Financial Management

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
