Manager, Project Management

This role will work at the intersection of Product, Tech, and Business teams building experiences on the Workday Platform. As a member of the Workday Platform team, you are a part of the core of platform performance, support, security and data governance. This role will work closely with the Product and Tech leads to align on processes and operating model improvements, feature prioritization, discovery needs, and reporting KPIs. 

Operating Model Lead: This role will work across the HR, Finance, and Global teams to ensure that changes to the Workday platform are analyzed and de-risked, approvals for changes are obtained, and design and architecture conversations are happening well in advance of teams building on the platform. Strong skills in communication, stakeholder management, and process creation are critical

Data Analysis & Insights: This role will be responsible for drafting and measuring KPIs that ladder up to overall program OKRs. This health report card will be used to make decisions and pivot as needed and inform investments for the program.

Optimization of Platform Team Processes: The Workday Platform team covers HR and Finance needs and has an extensive intake backlog. This role will look at how to leverage automation and AI capabilities to gather requirements, streamline refinement, and prioritize development requests

Structured Product Strategy: The Product Ops Manager is embedded with the Tech and Product teams, helping structure initiatives and ensuring outcomes are measured and on track. This role is a thought leader, challenger, and scientist, pushing the boundaries of what the team can do, questioning the status quo, and experimenting and learning fast

User Focus: This role will influence the Workday product roadmap by synthesizing feedback from HR Business Partners, Tech, and Business Leaders into a cohesive voice. You will analyze support trends and ticket volumes not just to fix bugs, but to turn those insights into actionable product improvements that reduce user friction

Automated Testing Strategy: This role will build a global automated testing strategy and develop recommendations on frameworks for selecting enterprise tools, migrating test cases to automated tools, effectively reducing manual testing to zero. Building out change management and migration plans will be a key deliverable of this workstream

General Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the central orchestration layer across Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders, translating needs into scalable platform solutions

  • Drive platform operations by optimizing workflows, improving change management processes, and implementing structure to reduce inefficiencies

  • Gather and synthesize stakeholder requirements through discovery and user feedback, translating insights into actionable platform enhancements 

  • Leverage data, metrics, and dashboards to inform decision-making and continuously improve platform performance and user experience

               

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders across Product, Engineering, and business teams

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, context-switch quickly, and drive work forward with a sense of urgency and ownership

  • Demonstrates adaptability and comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities

  • Balances strategic thinking with hands-on execution, bringing structure and clarity to ambiguous problems

  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills, using data insights to inform decisions and drive outcomes

  • Self-starter who operates with a high degree of autonomy, accountability, and initiative

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience 

  • At least 3 years of Program Management, Project Management, Product Management or a combination

  • At least 1 year of experience using Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of years of Program Management, Project Management, Product Management or a combination

  • At least 1 year of experience with Workday HRIS

  • At least 1 year of experience automating workflows using applications or AI tooling

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Lean, Agile (SAFE) or Six Sigma certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Richmond, VA: $138,100 - $157,700 for Manager, Project Management


 

McLean, VA: $151,900 - $173,400 for Manager, Project Management

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
